Welcome note about pandemic locations (and pandemic kiddos) -vs- inside your home!
I know after the last year everyone wants to run outside -- but don't look over the at home session options, they are really packed with so much genuine love, fun, and true memories that your kids will have ingrained in their brains forever! This last year was wild, insane, still going on!! But that whole, slow down, breath, embrace the chaos and take it all in and appreciate each other and the home ya have - that is a great piece of your story to document! Plus, outdoor locations -- ya may have to mask up and that is out of my hands.....
One other thing - maybe your kids have not been around many new faces in the last year - so maybe give them that added comfort of being at home, on their terf! If you know right now in your gut that they will not want to be up smiling outside at sunrise at 5:30 in the morning - don't put that stress/pressure on yourself! WE CAN ROCK IT AT HOME IN A WINDOW! PLUS NO WORRIES ON THE WEATHER - win/win/win y'all.
okay. onward.....
Family photography is one of those things that can be really stressful for all involved.
Oooooorrrrrrrr it can be so much fun!! Let's shoot on the side of fun, what do ya say?! The key to this is :: let go of all of your Pinterest board dreams and remember.... kids are kids!
They get cold. Or hot. Or have to pee(that is why being home is super smart!). Or are hungry. Or won’t wear that color. Or have to wear a cape. Or maybe barfed on the way to the shoot (legit this has happened more times that I can count y’all). They will not hold their brothers hand. They prefer selfies only. Or they might only let mom hold them for the first 55 minutes. ⠀
⠀
Let your family be themselves.
Take a deep breath and enjoy this chance in a crazy week to go run around with the people that you love the most. Trust that you’ve invested in a photographer whose going to make magic with what you’ve shown up with. Encourage the grass stains and cartwheels and pigtails that won’t stay in. Let’s play tag and give big hugs to warm up. And get cozy and snuggly if we’re shy at first. ⠀
⠀
The important part is that you showed up! And I promise in 30 years y’all will be loving and laughing on each other telling stories as you look at these photos 😍⠀
⠀
Time flies. Don’t miss a moment! ⠀
